It was all going so well.... The other day, I had a tyre that had a slow leak. I've been pumping it up when I get the chance. Its amazing, the amount of gas stations that have broken air pumps, but that's another story. Anyway, it was time to get the tyre fixed. I wasn't going to take it to our usual guy. The last time they mucked up and I failed the WOF "warrant or fitness" They had to rechange a tyre. Long story short, I was looking for someone new. There is a local place I have been looking at called "world of tyres" I thought it looked good, so I went there. When I arrived, they had a bay available and ready to go. That was a nice start. The tyre guy asked me if I wanted a new tyre of just fix the old one. I asked if the tyre would pass a WOF He said that it was worn but it would pass. So I asked him to just fix the tyre. I'm not going to spend money when I don't have to. While the work was being done, I went into the waiting room. It was very nice. I made myself a freshly ground cup of coffee with their wonderful machine. And settled down in a cosy seat in front of the fire. After a while, they came and got me and said that my van was ready. Great stuff. I went to pay the bill. I was expecting a bill of about $25 but they charged me $50. That's a bit pricy, but ok, as I did not ask for a quote, so it is what it is. Then I went to leave. Another great thing was that this place was a drive-through, so I could just drive straight out. Brilliant On the way to the van, I saw the guy who repaired the tire and said thanks. He laughed and replied Sure thing, I will see you in two weeks. What the...... I thought he said the tyre was okay, but now he's telling me I just wasted $50 on a tyre that won't pass a WOF. I guess time will tell with that one. One thing that I do know is I won't be going back. I feel sorry for the guy that owns the place. He probably spends a ton of money to get the customer in. Then spends all that time getting the customer experience right Just to have some thoughtless wally blow it as the customer is leaving. What a complete waste of time and effort.
