The "Bull" Strategy: How to actually rank your Google Profile

Hi Reader

I was looking at our numbers this morning, and it reminded me of the single best asset in our lawn care business.
It’s not the mowers, and it’s not the trucks.

It’s our Google Business Profile.

That little profile brings in calls and website leads every single week like clockwork. But here is the hard truth I see too many business owners ignore:

Most people think the job is done the moment they click "Save" on their profile setup.

Let me be blunt: A Google Business Profile is as useless as tits on a bull if no one can find it.

Your actual job isn't just to have a profile; it’s to rank it. And the easiest way to do that is with reviews.

Now, here is the second mistake (and since we’re doing cow idioms today, let's stick with the theme): Most guys go at this like a bull at a gate. They blast their entire client list, get 20 reviews in one week, and then… nothing.

Silence for six months.

That might give you a quick spike, but Google hates it. It looks unnatural, and it won’t keep you ranking for long. What Google’s algorithm craves is consistency. They want to see a steady, slow drip of feedback.

So, how do you feed the algorithm without driving yourself crazy? We use a simple system that takes about 30 seconds a day.

The "One Text" Drip System

  1. The List: Open a spreadsheet. Put in all your customers (Name, Address, Phone). Delete anyone who has already reviewed you.
  2. The Alarm: Set an alarm on your phone for 7:00 PM daily.
  3. The Action: When that alarm goes off, send one customer a text asking for a review. Just one.
  4. The Pause: We usually get a review within 5 days. As soon as that review comes in, stop. Turn off the alarm. Reply to the review immediately.
  5. The Wait: Wait 21 days. Then, turn the alarm back on and start again.

(Note: If you’re just starting and have zero reviews, get your first 5–10 as fast as you can to get the ball rolling. But after that? Slow down.)

This system ensures your profile gets a fresh review every month, keeping you relevant and ranking high all year round, rather than just being a "flash in the pan."

Need the exact text we send? I’ve dropped the exact copy-paste script I use in the free Skool group here. Grab it, set your alarm for 7 PM, and watch your ranking climb.

Until next time,Get out there, mow lawns, and have fun.

P.S. If you’re in a hurry or have a short season, you can shorten that 21-day wait to 14 days, but consistency is always better than volume!

Gear would be broken, or someone forgot to load something. And we’d spend the first two hours of the day scrambling to get the...

We had a thousand bucks left. On a credit card. That was the emergency float. Instead, I spent it on a mower and a weed eater. No backup plan.No second option. Just that gut feeling that I couldn’t sit around and wait anymore. We were living hand to mouth with a signwriting business, and everyone had closed for Christmas. December rolled in, and we had zero work. So I walked into a mower shop, swiped that card, and came home with the gear. I told my wife I was starting a lawn care business....
